Access to Cat Ba Island

There are many possibilities to go from Hanoi to Cat Ba :

·     Private car Hanoi-Haiphong and speed boat Haiphong-Cat Ba Island

Departure from your Hanoi hotel around 6h30 AM and transfer to Haiphong (2h of road),  then boat from Haiphong to Cat Ba (1h). Arrive to Cat Ba at 10h.

This solution allows more time to visit Cat Ba Island.

Return by boat from Cat Ba to Haiphong and car from Haiphong to your Hanoi hotel.

·   Local bus Hanoi-Haiphong and speed boat Haiphong-Cat Ba Island

 Several bus companies offer local buses Hanoi-Haiphong, that you take at the Hanoi Luong Yen or My Dinh Bus Station. Departing in Hanoi from Luong Yen. Ask for a ticket bus to Hai Phong. The bus stops at the bus company’s office. From there, take a taxi (5 mn rideà to the peir of Ben Dinh, where you board the speed boat arriving directly at Cat Ba Town (3 hours trip). Attention : the last speed boat leaves Haiphong at 10 AM, which requires that you arrive at the bus station around 6h30.

     . Local bus Hanoi-Haiphong and regular boat Haiphong-Cat Ba Island

Local bus Hanoi-Haiphong, that you take at the Hanoi Luong Yen or My Dinh Bus Station. Departing in Hanoi from Long Yan or My Dinh Bus Station. Ask for a combined ticket bus + boat. The bus stops at the bus company’s office, from which a minibus takes you to the pier of Dinh Vu, where you board the regular boat arriving at the jetty of Cai Vieng in  the north of the island ; from there, a minibus crosses it from north to south, all the way down to Cat Ba Town. This trip takes 4 hours. Attention : the last boat leaves Haiphong at 10 AM.

Train from Hanoi- Haiphong.

Please take a train from Train station Long Bien or Tran quy cap (after the night train from Sapa) to Haiphong (2h), arrive to Haiphong, take a taxi 5 minutes- 30.000 vnd to the port de Ben Binh then speed boat to Cat Ba City. 

Attention : the last speed boat leaves Haiphong at 10 AM, which requires that you arrive at the train station around 6h30.
